Plans and Strategies
Stepping into the new century, Austrian water policy has to focus on new tasks when trying to take a stand. Among these are, especially, the tackling of drinking-water scarcity in many regions of Europe and the world, the handling of water as an economic good high in demand, as well as water quality as a cost factor in world trade. Being one of the countries most abundant in water resources on the globe, it is Austria’s task to keep its excellent position and to share its high level of expertise in keeping water bodies clean. Austria especially understands that it is necessary to remain fully committed at an international scale to finding solutions to water pollution and to preserving drinking-water resources.
