Water as a living environment

Moors, wetlands, rivers and lakes are sensitive ecosystems, which serve as a living environment for rare animals and plants.  The increasing demand for space of humans threatens the existence of these irretrievable wetlands. It was not before the 80ies that these areas, which were for a long time thoughtlessly reduced and destroyed by human land-use, were raised to the status of “protection zone” by an international agreement. Various current initiatives are aiming now at raising the awareness for the great importance of the wetlands and at preserving these important ecosystems.
